Who Is Hinata?
Hinata Nakamura is a 21-year-old Japanese multidisciplinary artist who expresses her creativity through composition, dance, violin performance, and films. Currently based in New York City, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and Composition at New York University as a scholarship recipient. Concentrating in concert music, Hinata studies with Justin Dello Joio and is also pursuing a Minor in Film.
As a solo violinist, she has performed with orchestras in Bulgaria (Stara Zagora Orchestra) and Osaka. She also performs chamber and orchestra pieces at NYU and as a member of the NYC orchestra project. As a dancer, she has performed in Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York, Canada, and Japan.
Hinata has been awarded awards such as the Most Valuable Performer Award at Japan Youth Dance Festival (2015), 3rd place at the World of Dance Championship (2019), Creative Partners award at English Vocal Election vol. I, Special Prize (Special Mention) at the 5th ISAC International Popular
Music Composition Competition, and jury prize at the 40th TIAA National Composers Competition.
She enjoys exploring a wide range of genres, letting musicality and cross-disciplinary influences and collaborations with instrumentalists, dancers, animators, and filmmakers shape her expressive style.
